Pizza Dosa Recipe – Delicious Indian Street Food

On every streets of Indian cities, You will definitely found Pizza Dosa. Mostly in Northen India and Gujarat. Their street vendors love to do fusion in every dish and people love to give a try. So this dosa is unique combination of pizza and dosa. Well, this recipe has nothing special. Batter is same as normal dosa batter. You can also use leftover dosa batter. This recipe is loved by all age group either elder or children.

How pizza dosa invented?

One day one chef making normal dosa in the restaurant. Kid sitting at the chair crying because he does not like normal dosa. So, he decided to make something unique for child as he has stuffing of Uttapam and cheese is also available. He created pizza dosa by spreading batter on tawa then he added stuffing like tomatoes, capsicum and onion & on the top he grated cheese. Kid loved this combination. Don’t know this is true story or not but that’s how this dosa was invented.


Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp – Butter
  • 1 tsp – Oil
  • 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
  • 2 – Onions (chopped)
  • 2- Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 cup – Capsicum (chopped)
  • 1 cup – beetroot
  • 1 cup – carrot
  • 1 cup – sweet corn
  • 1 cup – Cabbage (shredded or chopped)
  • 4 tbsp – Pizza pasta chutney
  • 2 tbsp – Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp – Red chilli sauce
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp – Garam masala
  • 1 tbsp – Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 6-8 black olives
  • Grated mozzarella cheese

Step by step Instruction of Pizza Dosa:

  1. First of all, Heat a non-stick tawa.
  2. Now add some oil on the pan and wipe it with a kitchen towel to lightly grease. Again Sprinkle some water and wipe again with a kitchen towel.
  3. Put dosa batter on the center of hot tawa and spread using the back of the ladle to make semi-thin large disc and cook from one side till ½ done.
  4. Don’t make very thin or thick dosa.
  5. Lightly scrape out the excess batter on the above layer to make it thin.
  6. Drizzle some melted butter, spread it on Dosa batter.
  7. Now put all the chopped vegetables tomatoes, onion, capsicum, olives, cabbage, carrot and beetroot or all your favorite vegetables.
  8. Put some pizza pasta sauce on the top of vegetables.
  9. After that put some ketchup.
  10. Now put all spices like Garam masala, Kashmiri red chilly powder and Cumin masala and salt.
  11. Now mix all the ingredients.
  12.  Next step is put some melted butter on the sides of the pizza dosa and put grated cheese, cover and cook it till the cheese melts.
  13. Now our delicious dosa is ready.
  14. Garnish with few basil leaves, it is totally optional.
  15. Cut into wedges and serve hot.
  16. You can serve it with ketchup or authentic Sambhar Chutney.
